Halloween 2007

Our little Slimer

Trick-or-treating at Jo & Darryl's (our great neighbors)

Julia and I went to a Baby Ballroom Halloween party and met up with friends, Mary and Abby. We learned some dances (we liked the tango the best), played some fun games, and did some Halloween crafts.

Julia learned some new moves from Mary!

"Oh, you're trying to get a good picture of two toddlers together? Good luck!!!"

Family Update

Hello everyone! We hope everyone enjoyed their summers and that everyone is excited for winter and the holidays.

We are doing great. Julia is at a very fun stage and is keeping us very busy. She is a curious and adventurous little girl. She is very mobile – climbing on everything she can, and going up and down the stairs standing up (with supervision still). Julia also is showing her imagination – pouring pretend tea into cups, talking to the cats and her stuffed animals, and she tries to share her snacks with both. Julia’s favorite things to do are read books, sing, dance, and play outside (she especially likes rocks, sticks and dirt). I’ve tried coloring with her but she isn’t too interested in it yet. I look forward to that because I love to do art projects.

The only other news is I have a new job! I accepted an associate attorney position with a small law firm downtown. I will be practicing all aspects of family law (divorce). I am very excited about this opportunity and am thrilled that they hired me. The firm is very well respected and the three attorneys are incredible and practice the way I want (ethically and reasonably). I start the beginning of December, after finishing up a month of juvenile with my judge. My law clerk days are soon to be over! I will miss my current job but it is time to move on and actually practice law. I feel very grateful that I had the luxury of waiting until the perfect job came along and feel that it did. Wish me luck!

Drop us a line to let us know how you are doing!!!

Love,
Carrie
"I love getting into things! And you should see my reach now - my parents have to make sure everything is pushed FAR back on tables and counters now...HAH!"

"Mommy, are you trying to confuse me? I have my jammies on, I know we aren't going outside but you put my new winter hat on...sigh...ok, if you must, take a quick picture"

Chatting with Julia

Julia continues to learn more and more words and sounds. Her favorite word right now is probably "Jackie" - our day care provider's name! We are working on more animal sounds and she can identify various body parts. This month we are working on "gobble-gobble" for turkey.

Looking cute

My judge and I at the district's softball tournament - sadly, the law clerks lost to the judge team (we were kicking butt but they swooped in at the end and beat us - I guess old people need plenty of time to warm up...HAH!)

Julia loves to sit in big people chairs now

Our multi-purpose purple dinasaur - we used it for a pool when it was hot, as a ball holder most of the time and when she gets older, we'll fill it with sand (right now she'll just eat it)

At the Cabin

We were able to stay at the cabin in Wisconsin for a week beginning of August. It was a nice and relaxing week. Julia was a little sick a few of the days but she still had a good time. Her nap schedule got really messed up and the pacifier weaning sort of regressed - I am sure Jackie was thrilled when we brought her back to day care! Here are some pics from our week...

Julia's love of dirt begins...

We went to a zoo in Minoqua that was really great - probably one of the widest variety of animals we've seen (not that we've been to that many zoos). One of the really cool parts was that many animals were free to roam around the zoo.

"Look! Someone stinkier than I!"
(the stink releaser was removed...and I'm pretty sure that is the technical name for it- j/k )

A Beatiful Buck

"Hmm...not quite sure what to think about that"

Kirk and I celebrated our 7th anniversary while on vacation - we were able to have
a night out while Julia stayed with her grandparents

Julia's First Birthday

We had a "small" party to celebrate Julia's big day - I guess it wasn't too small but I tried! It was a fun day and Julia enjoyed herself. Thanks to everyone who came and helped her celebrate!

it is just too funny though!)
