New Cat in Town
Carrie is a bit obsessive about our cats - this is guaranteed to transfer mostly to our child once it's born but the poor cats have to put up with her for another 5-6 months. So if you are not a cat fan, please bear with us for the next several photos!
We have had Hannah (aka "Hannahbelle") since 1998 when Carrie found her wandering in a Ford dealership in Kenyon, MN. Carrie says that it was "meant to be." Kirk says that it was "theft." Nonetheless, Hannah became ours and she is our little sweetheart.
Sly (aka "Sly Guy" and "Booger") joined our family this past November. He was very skittish when we met him but he was a bit older than the other kitties so we thought he would be a better match for Hannah. He slowly got used to us and our home but continues to be nervous around new people. This puzzles us because he is an attention-hog and follows us around whenever we are home. He doesn't understand that new people means new hands to pet and hold him.
Hannah and Sly are by no means friends yet but have made a lot of progress. If Sly would learn to stop biting Hannah while wrestling, that might be a step in the right direction. She still growls at him but Sly doesn't really care. He continues to jump her when the mood strikes him but even though he could kick her butt, she remains the dominant cat (it's all in the attitude). We hope that someday they will be best buds.
